I am still working on reading through the book since it was a class requirement this semester. The book is set up well and is easy to understand. There is a newer version, but this one is pretty much the same and was recommended by my professor. If you are going to purchase this instead of version 8 then you just need to make sure that you go by chapter instead of by page number, but this will work just fine for half the price. I would recommend this to anyone who has a need for a class or a desire to learn more about writing. The listing was listed as good – clean, but some of the pages including the cover were bent (I think the cover was damaged in shipping and not the fault of the seller) and you can tell this book probably sat somewhere for a while because it has some browning. The inside is certainly clean and there is not one marking to be found on the inside. I even looked to see if there was anything removed, however it was nice and clean throughout. Do not hesitate, save yourself some money and purchase this book now.

The content of the book is awful and stupid (confusing explanations, stupid biased political discussions) but thanks amazon rentals, you saved me 50 dollars for a book I would never have touched if it wasn't for this class!

I used only this book for self study (also with the practice software) and passed the CISM exam on my 1st attempt

This is a WAY MORE coherent read than the ISACA version. This has actual order and logically makes sense. I retain the information much easier than with ISACA's study. I realized how much I actually already know now that I can understand what I'm studying for. I feel way more confident about the CISM exam and am more motivated to do it. This book will stay in my library because it has such great stuff in it. Muy bien! It came with a CD with the test engines and lots of questions. Im going to use these materials instead for my 1st time around. I just dont care for ISACA outrageous memberships, test engines, book and exam prices at over $1k total. I'm never going to go to a ISACA meeting just to get a discount on their outrageous fees for the $700 exam and their materials. I feel confident I can take the exam with my 20+ years of INFOSEC risk management, cyber security policy, program management, and incident response and this study guide alone. Im sure as heck going to try because this is more economical with rich, usable and relevant content. This book was a win!

Good for HR departments that don't understand too much and just need to see the credentials. This book is basically the same as the CISSP with very few instances of deviation. Same rules apply much like ISC2. If you currently hold the CISSP and pass this exam, you will be fully certified CISM. If you don't have the time in service, you will become an associate.Keep that in mind if you plan on getting this certification. Having a CISSP also automatically grants the CISM upon passing as it is inferred you have the experience.Still a good book for material and pairing this with the CISSP exam will help pass both exams.

I passed the exam 4 days ago and this book was my main study guide. I read the book cover to cover and used the CD to install the practice test engine. I went through the entire question bank 2-3 times and read the reasons why the answers are right or wrong.Can you pass the exam with this book and CD only? It depends. There were a few questions that the real exam had the book didn't cover extensively, but those questions were's too difficult to narrow the answers down to a 50/50 choice. I recommend get additional practice text exams elsewhere to add more assurance of covering the materials completely.

Missed a couple terms like AIW, and could have been slightly better aligned with the ISACA nomenclature, which is important for understanding actual test questions. As a future practical reference though, I think this book is going to be worth it's weight. I doubt any senior information security professional could do their job without a reference like this.

This book was instrumental on helping me pass the CISM exam on the first attempt.Used this in conjunction with the official ISACA test prep book and the pocket prep CISM app, with the key component being this book...

Informative and effective. I used this book instead of CISM Review Manual, 15th Edition from ISACA and passed the CISM exam.However, the installer of the Total Tester practice tests from the companion CD is not working.The workaround is not received until the day I sat before the exam, so 4 stars.

Book is well written. Peter G. covers the subjects lucidly and fully. I use this volume as the text I distribute to my CISM students. highly recommend this book to all CISM candidates

About the Author
An eminent media and communications expert, Keval J. Kumar is the founder-director of RECMER (the Resource Centre for Media Education and Research), Rune, as well as a Visiting Faculty at MICA (Mudra Institute of Communication), ISB&M (International School of Business and Media), and Indira School of Communication.

He has authored seven books, including Media Education, Communication, and Public Policy: An Indian Perspective, and The Complete Guide to Mass Communication.

He earned his doctorate in Mass Communication from the University of Leicester, UK, and has taught at several institutions including, Ohio State University, USA, Jacobs University, Bremen, Germany, Bahrain Training Institute, Manama, and Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, where he was also the Director. He was the Chief Advisor to the 'Media Studies' committee formed for NCERT's syllabus and textbooks, and many of his articles have been published in academic journals and books on Communication. An Associate Member of ORBICOM, the Association of UNESCO Chairs in Communication, he also Chaired the Media Education Research Section, International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), from 1998 to 2006.
