I am still working on reading through the book since it was a class requirement this semester. The book is set up well and is easy to understand. There is a newer version, but this one is pretty much the same and was recommended by my professor. If you are going to purchase this instead of version 8 then you just need to make sure that you go by chapter instead of by page number, but this will work just fine for half the price. I would recommend this to anyone who has a need for a class or a desire to learn more about writing. The listing was listed as good – clean, but some of the pages including the cover were bent (I think the cover was damaged in shipping and not the fault of the seller) and you can tell this book probably sat somewhere for a while because it has some browning. The inside is certainly clean and there is not one marking to be found on the inside. I even looked to see if there was anything removed, however it was nice and clean throughout. Do not hesitate, save yourself some money and purchase this book now.

The content of the book is awful and stupid (confusing explanations, stupid biased political discussions) but thanks amazon rentals, you saved me 50 dollars for a book I would never have touched if it wasn't for this class!

 I just got the book and it is ripping apart. I’m afraid of opening it. Looks like the front cover will fall off in any second.

Came as described, needed it for a literature class. Barely cracked it open but it had some good beginner information. Definitely go for buying it used.

Great range of literate works, my professor recommended this to help better understand of identifying fallacies and creating an argumentative essay. Renting it helped save me a bunch of money and the book comes in great condition.

Exactly what I needed

This book was chosen by the instructor and at first I wasn't sure if I was going to really be able to get into it...until I went to class! Now that it is all highlighted and underlined I really like the book and plan to use it again when I have to write papers for future classes.
