This book was required for a class. I have not been impressed. The organization and writing style do not measure up to the quality I've grown accustomed to in other nursing books. Information is needlessly repeated within a chapter. The non-photograph illustrations in the book are of good quality. However, the majority of the photographed images in this book are of very poor picture quality. Considering the high price of this book when it was first released, it's unacceptable that the majority of the photographs are very outdated (they look like pictures from the 90's).My biggest complaint is that there are misprints! Notice the attached images from Chapter 11 of the 6th Edition (facts highlighted in orange, correct data). Compare to same section from 7th Edition (9% circled in pencil, wrong information). (Note: You may not be able to tell that the "9%'s" are incorrect without having access to the additional text missing from my pictures. But, I've included the pictures anyway for the benefit of anyone else who has this book and needs to know about this error, as they may be tested on this information and be expected to have the correct statistics.) This is definitely the 2nd, possibly the 3rd misprint I have found in this book! At this price point, totally unacceptable!I wish I could get my money back! Unfortunately, it has taken me months to get thru the book and realize how bad it is. And I've highlighted in it. A friend has the older version of this book & sadly, the older version is better than the newer one.The writers also decided to remove the answers for the Review Questions from the back of the book, it was available in previous editions prior to Edition 7. Instructors who have been using this book for years do not provide answers to the review questions because they expect students to have access to these answers! Also, these questions are not used on tests, they are supposed to be used as a study tool and answers should be provided in case the student is uncertain of the correct answers. Without having access to the correct answers, they are useless! At first, I was lead to believe these answers were available online... They are not available online unless they have recently added to what is available online.Aside from all the bad points, I did give it 2-stars because it is an educational text book. I have learned a lot from the book. However, it has not been an easy learning experience, especially due to the incorrect information in a few spots.

We used this book for Nursing school and it is awesome! It is very easy to understand and has online resources that helps you to study! I would also recommend getting the workbook! I love Maternity nursing and this book enhanced my knowledge and interest in this field.

This book is missing some pages. I went from reading chapter 5 page 106 to chapter 7 page 171. That's crazyI really need a new book. My NP program just started this book and I need a different book.

This book was sold as "new". The entire back cover, along with part of the index is torn up, as if it were chewed up by a dog. Doesn't look very new to me.

glad amazon has affordable textbooks. Can we have ebook textbooks someday, tho? that would be great.

I wish i had bought the book. Felt like the e-book version was a waste of money. Poor lay out, and hard to navigate.

I bought this edition for my class even though we were told to get the 6th edition. It was very much the same as my classmate's. Page numbers and layout were a little bit different, but I did not notice anything lacking. If you want to try saving a few bucks, get this old edition.
